First lecture

Today was my first lecture for Digital media practice, on my masters course. This blog is to show my ideas/research/development and concept ideas towards my main project for this module. The project itself is still unknown, as I have not come up with many ideas yet. I have thought about a few which consist so far of the idea of re-creating iconic band album covers using my photography and illustration skills. The reason for this is because I have been inspired by music by watching a video by Arcade fire which John our lecturer told us to have a look at.
The video is online at www.thewildernessdowntown.com which most who reads this will know as you are in my lecture, but just in case any of my viewers of my other blog take a look its for your benefit. The video tells you to put the postcode of the place where you grew up, so I did Leighton Buzzard. I thought the way it was presented through many different windows coming up was very clever, although at first confusing as I wasn't sure weather i should open them or not. Once I knew they came up themselves I was impressed by the way they used different screens with different video part on, it kept me engaged and interested. I already had an idea images of Leighton Buzzard would come up but when I recognised the area of the high street, which has a pub I often went to it made me very excited. At one part you can write a postcard to yourself and draw, tree like steams appear and animated birds fly into your drawing. They also fly throughout the imagery during the video, they are simple but work well with the song and feel of the video, bringing the many screen together to show it links to the same film.
To those of you who would like to see some of my photography take a look at my other blog, which consist of my on-going 365 photography project. http://parisa365photo.blogspot.com/
